MetaLogix Inc. Wins Blue Diamond Award

Proud winner of the ‘Best Use of IT Technology’ Blue Diamond Award for the Business Intelligence Data Warehouse created for ColFax Pump Group

Charlotte, North Carolina – March 10, 2005:  MetaLogix Inc. was awarded the Blue Diamond Award for ‘Best Use of IT Technology’ by Information Technology Charlotte, in conjunction with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, at the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 10, 2005.  Blue Diamond Awards have recognized the accomplish­ments of technology-based solutions and contributions made by Charlotte area companies and individuals since 1988.  After consideration by a select panel of judges, ITC made 25 awards, including the Blue Diamond awarded to MetaLogix Inc. and ColFax.

MetaLogix, ColFax and Decision Support Panel

ColFax is a worldwide manufacturer of pumps and fluid handling solutions.  Before implementing a MetaLogix Business Intelligence (BI) solution using the Decisions Support Panel (DSP), monthly reporting required the resources of two full-time analysts for two weeks.  Information was often a month old before being delivered to management.  The new BI reporting solution is web-based and automatically retrieves current data from four enterprise resource planning systems.  Results are presented in custom, management friendly reports.  This solution was built using Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server Analysis Services and DSP to enhance the presentation layer.  ColFax executives now have timely data for daily decision making.  The solution eliminates the need for manual reports and yields an annual savings of $180,000 USD.

Before the BI solution was implemented, “It took so long to pull together data on five geographically dispersed companies that by the time executives saw it, the information was stale," says Henry Carroll, Chief Financial Officer for Colfax Pump Group. "The original data was in three different currencies and four different formats. It took five days to pull together the data and another five days to generate reports, so we were always trying to run the business by looking in the rearview mirror."
